Wont eat raw liver
Submitted by 2bds2010 on September 29, 2010 - 3:05pmSo after a month on just chicken I bought some beef liver for the dogs to supplement. Both managed to flip it out of there bowls. Left it laying on the concrete for all the ants and flies...yuck.....(I did chop it in a small hunk). Roxy was the funniest. shaking her head like it was bad....Could it be bad?? Or do they not like it?? Should I just keep them on the chicken livers??? Would cooking the beef take the nutrients out???

My first post was asking about raw because the first raw I tried was beef liver... thinking it was good for iron and many other things.. Well, you'd think, for her first try at real meat she'd eat it!!! - NOPE, her and my Lab snubbed it and wouldn't even touch the food it was touching! The ladies here said that many dogs don't like raw liver and that mixing it with hamburger should help. My second meal (just before joining) I gave them beef heart and hamburger and they thought that was the greatest thing on earth... BUT when I mixed the liver with the hamburger they wouldn't have anything to do with it. :(

I had to go slowly with the raw liver.
Kofi loves chicken livers. She now eats them raw, but not in the beginning.
I had to mix in a small amount of beef liver with whatever beef I was grinding.
I do also feed veggie glop, so I add a garlic clove minced with the ground up veggies.
In the beginning, Kofi did not like beef. I would put it under the broiler for about 30 seconds and then she would eat it.
She is much more accustomed to raw now and not nearly as picky.
I may decide to feed just the raw prey diet in future, but for now, I do a combination.

and you are comfortable, don't worry about any certain diet! Keep feeding her like you're doing. If Audrey didn't throw up so much, she'd be getting a lot more than just meat also, just to give her taste buds a variety.

Kofi is turning into a true carnivore! I'm so happy that she has learned to chomp before swallowing!

Audrey loves chicken liver though, she will eat just about anything. She is eating beef kidney right now, and I find the texture of it quite nasty, but she doesn't mind a bit!

i stay away from beef liver/////
wilson gets pancratitis....he'll throw up yellow bile get a temp with just small amounts.....they others are fine...so i stay with turkey,chicken, liver.... so just use with a little caution try a small amt first...some dogs are just sensitive....
