Tonight we had our first chunk of raw food. Nature's Variety Instinct - the chicken and turkey with vegetables. I mixed it in with her Royal Canin 80/20.
Speaking of which, does anyone know how long I can keep the thawed patty in the fridge? I don't eat much meat myself so I'm not sure and I don't want to waste any. 20% used about a quarter of the patty; it would be Wednesday morning before this one is gone.
My hope is that this will work.
In the meantime, here's Matilda - who has settled into her nighttime routine of nursing on her 'baby', a fleece bone that is the only toy she does this with.
Wish us luck...

Best of luck!
Keep us posted on Matilda's progress going RAW!
Good Luck Matilda
Oh she's just darling sucking on her sucky! Onslow does this with his fleece blanket and it's so cute. He lulls himself to sleep with it like a baby. Ha! The meat should be ok for a few days just make sure it keeps refrigerated.
dump
the kibble...dont feed both at the same time...kibble takes a long time to process in the tummy....your pattie dont,,,,,also for the first month dont add anything to the raw diet....let the system detox...from the kibble without processing anything extra...then in a month add....
as for vit cod liver tab....once a day and a vit c 500mg...is all you need....
really?
i can just flat out stop the crunchies?
the last couple of times we did this she got the pukes...and it says to transition. hmm.
okay! one patty, alone, comin up! :)
the stomach
(this charlie with his pig foot) he was 5 months when i adopted him kibble fed....the day he walked into my home raw fed....he also has sb....
has to produce more acid to break down kibble than is does raw.....this is why most kibble dogs when their food is changed get the runs and throw up....the stomach has to produce the acid to break down all the crap the kibble people put in thier posion...
you may get loose stools///but again its the bodies way of saying its getting rid of the kibble....add a little pumpkin.....if she has a throw up give her some tums....but cold turkey the dry food....really...your dog needs the benefits of good nutrition.....
Whoa. Tonight we had just the
Whoa.
Tonight we had just the raw patty. She never gulped her kibble so I wasn't even thinking...but she grabbed that thing and CHOMP. I will have to remember to make the thing into chunks so she goes a bit more slowly.
Her bowl has never been so clean. :)
digestion happens
in the stomach chewing is for making the pcs easy to swallow....dont make the pcs to big to choke on ok.....thats why i feed pig feet or hocks to chew on and clean the teeth...
