What food do you feed your Bullie?

Does food have anything to do with facial staining?

It can

Many of us have gone with a grain free food to clear up tear stains with success.  Those that feed raw have also reported some pretty amazing results.

It's kind of hard to recommend "the perfect" food since all bulldogs react differently.

dogfoodproject.com has been a very helpful site to me.  I like the way she breaks things down (loved the "ingredients to avoid" section!).

To answer your question, I feed Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream to Q-Ball.  I supplement the kibble with raw fish.  I would have loved to feed him Nature's Variety Instinct (which is what I feed my senior rottie who also has lupus), but Q is allergic to chicken.  His tear stains pretty much went away once I got him on the food that agreed with him.

You should also consider the water your bullie drinks. Sometimes, it's as simple as providing filtered water. :)

Chicken allergy

How do you know if your bully is allergic to chicken? What are the symptoms?

In Q's case

He used to get staph infections, bad tear stains, itchy feet, and a crappy coat. I eliminated the grains, and the tear stains and itchy feet started to clear up. I went to a single protein source (tried venison, rabbit, lamb, beef) but he broke out in hives. I couldn't get his coat and skin to clear up. Finally, I got rid of the chicken and, voila! No more staph, coat grew in thick and healthy (it used to feel greasy all the time).
Looking back, it may have been easier to have had an allergy panel done...LOL

Hi. Judith here. I have a 2 yr old bullie, and his head is white, and i have to clean every day with tear stain remover. but some foods do cause eye stains if you give them ur food as well. stick to good quality dog biscuits pro plan etc.
