What is the best starch to feed a bullie?

Thanks to all who responded regarding Bears dental issue. I have a follow-up on the 22nd to schedule dental cleaning. I read the post below about sweet potato & I was wondering which is best: rice, sweet potato or potato as I feed duck & potato. Does it really make a difference? I wonder if Bear keeps getting yeast from the potato? But wouldn't it be the same with sweet potato? Thanks in advance.

dogs don't "need" plant based starches at all

dogs do not use carbohydrates in the same way as a human does. The dog food industry is going to use your knowledge of what humans require and hope you assume that it applies to your dog as well. It does not necessarily mean that plant starches will harm your dog, but it is a very individual thing to determine which one any particular dog will tolerate the best.

Canines turn all dietary carbohydrates, from ANY source including animal fat, into instant energy and none is stored in the body for

energy requirements that develop later. 3) For humans we know that SOME FORMS of sugar carbohydrates can be assimilated but

for all breeds of dogs all forms of sugar carbohydrates have been found to be detrimental (the ONLY exception being the form of

lactose found in the milk of a lactating bitch for her puppy. Please Note; this form of lactose is not the same as a synthetic lactose

from sugar beet or sugar cane or even the lactose found in the milk of other species of mammals). Knowing these facts shows us why

we should NOT use the dietary rules about dietary fat and carbohydrates that apply to humans when deciding what to feed a dog.
