Watering eyes

Switching Riley over to the raw food diet has cleared up so many of her health issues, but her eyes still water so much!    Does anyone know if this is an allergy?   The actual structure of her lids is great... no need for entropian surgery or anything irritating them.   She is on the Natures Variety patties.

Could it be a seasonal

Could it be a seasonal allergy? Beatrix was having issues like that with one eye earlier this fall, and the vet gave us eye drops for her. Cleared the issue up nicely.

I am not sure if it could be

I am not sure if it could be seasonal, as I just got her in July.    I'll have to pay attention to that.   And I think I will ask the vet if there are drops that might help.    Thank you!

My dog's eyes water constantly too

3 vets have looked at them and said no serious issues, and one finally explained the excessive tearing is most likely because her tear ducts do not drain properly internally.

Vet said she wouldn't want to stop the tears, for obvious reasons, and to even test to see how the ducts drained would be quite an ordeal for Audrey. So we just deal with looking at tear stains. I HATE them, but for Audrey they are just a cosmetic issue. She plays with her ball like a lunatic, and that makes her eyes water more.

Switching her to a raw diet made the tear stains stop smelling like yeast, and her face doesn't itch anymore.

Riley's issue is that they do

Riley's issue is that they do get itchy at times, and also, with all the moisture, the skin gets red and irritated.   I am constantly drying them, but they still get red and sore.   I put different creams/ointments on them to heal and protect her skin.

I'm not going to put her through any extensive testing or work either... It could just be her.   She's had a rough enough life.

Thanks for the info... makes sense!

one of her eyes really water a lot

she is only 9 months old and she is white.  She has a really dark tear stain that goes all the say down to her mouth, I hate it.  I am constantly drying her eye.  Sometimes I can see a little "puddle" under her eye.......it's that bad.  I asked the vet and she thought that the bottom of her eyelid tilted in a little which was causing the tearing.  She said that she is still a puppy and may grow out of it but there is nothing she can do until she is older.  I wish I knew something that would keep the area drier because it can definitely smell.  I am constantly wiping it dry.  I also would love to know if there is anything that really works for tear stains.
