Thank you so much. My friend called them but she was told they do not specialize in bulldogs... .which I find strange, if they are listed on this site, but maybe she did not talk to the right person....

But rather, they have experience in dealing with Bully breeds and issues they may have that are different from other breeds. I went to an excellent veterinarian in Colorado that was listed as a Bully specialist but in fact wouldn't call himself that. Even though he was extremely knowledgeable of the breed and was a breeder himself for many years. But being a specialist implies they ONLY see or specialize in one breed, that may not be the case so they do not call themselves that.

At one point in time they might have been listed because of a vet on staff that was bully knowledgeable, but that vet may have since moved on to another clinic or something. Ya never know! Thanks for letting us know though, we will need to update that vet by state list.

For some reason over the years...people have referred to the vets on this list as bulldog specialists. The list was created by us Old Timers over the 10 years that David Wiggins created and owned the site and WE advised him of the vets in our area that had good experience with bulldogs and many bulldog clients. I have never referred to my vet as a bulldog specialist...nor would he refer to himself as that...what he would say is that he has many bulldog clients and is quite familiar with the breed and the breeds issues. So the list was created by breeders/owners/exhibitors of bulldogs over the past 10/11 years.
Kind of like the Bulldog being referred to as an English Bulldog...people add what they want and after a while it gets a following.

That because a vet sees a Bulldog, it doesn't make them a specialist, and most vets won't call themselves that. But a lot of the ones on the list see Bulldogs regularly and are known for their ability with the breed. Even my vet in Colorado I used wouldn't call himself a Bulldog specialist, though he knew more about the breed than most and was a breeder himself for many years:-)
We are carrying on the way Dave did...adding new names as they come from established Bulldoggers, and taking off names of those vets no longer practicing or clinics that are no longer open. Boy though, I wish it was back then again. I miss the way it was Deb.
Email on the way.
I sent you the vets in Pa that are listed on the home page of BDW. Hope it helps.

Not sure how this vet list originated
The animal hospital listed in Jacksonville Fl said the same thing.......we are not bulldog specialists.

They me rephrase what I originally said
When I told them they were listed on the Bulldogsworld.com forum, they couldn't understand why!
Mike
If you tell me which vet it was I can have them removed.

Is the vet list for The US. only? I have a wonderful, very bully experienced vet here in Toronto Canada.
