Vegetarian diet

I have been like many bulldoggers fighting tear stains.  I have tried raw,  cooked and kibble to no avail....I then tried Natural Balance Vegetarian.  I noticed the orange on the face getting lighter till finally gone.  I used it for about 6 months but started worring that maybe they weren't getting enough protein which is 18% coming from the potato skins.  Most good foods have 24% and up.  I changed them back to Blue Buffalo Basic which only has 2 ingredients so thought that would be good for them.  I used this for about 6 months but slowly the tear stains came back and her eye was always teary and red which it wasn't with the vegetarian.  I now have them back on vegetarian and her face looks great!!!!  My question is how do I know how much more protein to give extra and if I should supplement with vitamins?

Thanks

Roanne

just a suggestion

what about greek yogurt and quinoa as a protien source to add to the vegetarian diet that seems to work so well?

Don't get me wrong I'm certainly not against meat and am not a vegetarian but I do think she should have more protein and not sure how much and how often to supplement.  I will check into the yogurt and quinoa's...Thanks
