Vaccine question...

Oscar is due to go to the vet at the end of the month. They sent me a postcard with the following shots he needs.

BORDATELLA VACCINE

LEPTO VACCINE

DA2PP VACCINE

RABIES VACCINE- this one I am definitely doing!

Which vaccines should get done. I wasn't going to do the Bordatella because I dont think it is necessary. I don't even know what the DA2PP means!!!

HELP!!!

Vaccines

The DA2PP or DHPP is for distemper (upper respiratory virus that can affect the central nervous system), adenovirus-2 (also known as hepatitis), parainfluenza, parvovirus

My vet does not give Lepto and I do give the Bordatella only because my dogs go to shows and if I have to leave them at my vets spa they will not keep them unless they are upto date on shots.

We don't give Cleo rabies shots because she had an adverse reaction to her last rabies shot and my vet is fine with this.

I would skip the Lepto if you can...

i've heard of a few bulldogs having a bad reaction to it.

Vaccines

We never did any more vaccines after the puppy shots.  We did titers.  Your vet can do that.  At 7 Rocky was still good on all his titer levels so no need to keep pumping more vaccine into his system.  He also had a reaction to rabies shot so our vet said we didn't have to do it.  He gave us some sort of waiver and we never had any problems.  I know this topic has come up on this board before or the main board so you might want to go into the archives and see what others had to say.
