Urine Smell!!
Submitted by newtoenglishbulldogs on October 19, 2010 - 4:45amdoes anyone have a good solution to get rid of urine smell? Still in the housebreaking process but I can smell it everywhere!! I live out of the USA so i'm looking for something I can maybe make up on my own since good cleaning products are hard to find. I did get something like oxi clean for pet smells but it doesn't seem to work too well. I don't want to get my carpets fully cleaned until I know not too many more accidents are coming..hopefully in the near future!! Thanks!
I bought something at Pet Smart that was
made for that purpose. I can't remember the name, but it came in gallon jugs also. Perhaps someone else will. I used it to clean her crate, and whenever she had an accident. Since she was always crated as a puppy when I was not with her, the training went pretty well.
It's more simple since it was just me and Kofi and little distractions when she was out.
Hope you can find something that works for you.

what about vinegar?
I use it to pre-wash my grandson's diapers, and it works great to get rid of smells.

There is a great product from Rug Doctor....
it is called Urine Eliminator. Rug Doctor stuff can be found in grocery stores and Home Depot where you rent the rug cleaning machine.

White Vinegar and a Steam Mop
I clean all of the hard surfaces in my house with hot white vinegar and a steam mop. When vinegar dries, it takes the smell of nearly everything from cigarette smoke to pee and vomit away with it better than anything else I've used. I'm not sure if steam mops can be had in China but they are pretty common here and you can use them to steam through upholstery and carpeting as well.
When I'm feeling really crazy I add a drop of diluted tea tree extract to the white vinegar. Tea tree is pretty powerful and you have to make sure you dilute it a great deal, but between that and vinegar it helps with smells.
When in doubt with how to clean effectively (and naturally), ask someone who has OCD (me) and who has both a dog with allergies (also me).
