My bulldog keeps running aross the apartment like crazy... sitting down really quick... sitting by the door like he may need to go out... and running into his crate and staying there all night. All of these are unusual things for him.
He seems to be really irritated with it... any ideas? I've done some searching online and saw that it may either be worms or he needs his glands squeezed... I had no luck in squeezing his glands whatsoever. Then he just thought we were playing. heh
Any ideas? Don't want to go to the vet if I can figure out what it is first.
Bear does this pretty often....
He has an itch he is trying to scratch, runs around like crazy. When I took him to the vet, vet said his anal glands were fine. I use baby wipes to clean his butt after he poops. Don't know what is causing this.
Tail Pocket?
Straight or [hate this term] screw tail? If he has a screw type tail with a pocket under it, do ya clean there? I gently use a baby wipe, put some witch hazel on it and gently wipe under there, it can be quite deep. Then I use tucks, or neosporin to stop the itch. I do it everyday so there is no build up of cream. If it smells [the stuff on the baby wipe], ya need to keep after it, but very gently so as not to make it sore, or bleed. imho

Mean people still suck
Does your bully have a tail pocket?
If so, that is a good reason for him to be acting the way he is. It could be very dirty or infected and he needs it cleaned. If there is a pocket, there are several ways to clean it. With Sophie, I put her in the shower (I have a spray nozzle that hangs down in my shower so I can bathe dogs there!) I will spray her tail pocket out really well with luke warm water. Then I put a little anti-bacterial soap on my hands and carefully get up into the tail pocket and clean it out really well, then rinse it again very well to make certain all soap is out.
I dry it as well as possible with paper towels....they are thinner than a bath towel and absorb a lot better! I make sure it is very dry. Then I use a small drop of Desitin and smear it in the tail pocket as much as possible. I do that once a week or as needed and Sophia has no issues with her pocket. I used to clean everyday with baby wipes, but found that actually made it much worse! It kept it irritated and sore...so I quit doing that and she has been fine ever since with once a week:-)
Have you wormed lately? It could be that as well. You would need a fecal sample for your vet but a simple float would tell you if that is the problem. You wouldn't need to take your dog in:-)

Also, maybe far fetched, but
What flea medication do you have him on? This sounds very much like Sophia acts if she gets a bibbit (Ladies don't get fleas, they get bibbits!). She will tear across the room and sit down fast, then slink over to me or jump up on the bed and lays down quick...just acting like her bottom itches or something back there is bothering here. It is always a flea:-) So I am very careful about keeping her flea control meds going.

not far fetched at all!
Audrey was doing the same thing, and I wasn't sure if her knee was bothering her, her tail pocket or her anal glands. I looked real close and sure enough she had a flea on her! I checked both dogs good after that and OMG they had fleas!
I won't use flea meds on my dogs. I rubbed them down with diatomaceous earth and it really works to kill the fleas.

They are Bibbits. Not fleas. Our sophisticated girls can't.....
