Time to switch food???

Hi There!

My 3yr old bully Burger has been eating TOTW (the salmon type) for about 1.5yrs now.  Nice firm poop, no interdigital cyst on toes, ears good... nose rope, not so good.  Is there ever a good time to switch foods?  He's been on Wellness CORE fish formula as well as Natural Balance venison formula.

We do our best to keep his nose rope nice and clean but it still seems so irritated.  He's pretty smart too, when he sees me with the baby shampoo he runs for cover.

What do you think?  Is this TOO LONG to have him eating the same food???

How often do you clean his face?

Over cleaning can irratate the skin.

1x or 2x

I've been cleaning it 1-2x weekly.  I'm pretty gentle and make sure that I have all of the soap out of there.  I usually put a little diaper rash cream in there but he sometimes makes a speedy escape as soon as he sees that tube of Desitin.

I wouldn't wash with a soap

try using a baby wipe, might be a little more gentle on his skin.

I'd try a few other things....

before jumping into changing foods. It sounds like the only issue is the nose rope being irritated. Try cleaning with the baby wipes and you can also try to get some baby powder in that area if you can (obviously, you need to make sure you don't any in the eyes). I've had good luck with baby powder as well as desitin. Good Luck!
