You guys, can you just help me calm down a little? LOL
Milton's got one testicle undescended, he's 8 months old now and we just absolutely have to get him fixed. Kept hoping it might drop but it hasn't. Our vet has gone over with us all of the unfortunate possibilities that could come from having to have Milton under general anesthesia, and we're all in agreement that we wish there were some other way. They're going to of course take the utmost care and they treat many bullies at their practice (a full service veterinary hosptial) but there's always risks.
I just want my boy to be okay. And the bottom line is, not only do we have a breeder agreement to neuter him but the risk of cancer from leaving the other testicle up inside is just not one I want to take.

You're doing the right thing
and (easier said than done) try not to worry. He will sense that and you will make him nervous. He is going to be just fine. Lots of others will probably chime in that had this with the one testicle - it happens.
I was a bit nervous when we brought Onslow in but he did wonderful and I was shocked at how fast he bounced back from it! By the next day he wanted to be a maniac. (((hugs)))
I was afraid when I had my 2 done
but the vet knew what he was doing and they came out of it fine.
It was funny because they told me not to feed them anything when I got home cause he might throw up, well that didn't stop him from raiding the garden for apples, he was fine.
My little girl was a little out of it, but she perked up the next day and was back to normal.

He'll be fine
:) But it is very stressful. Just do bloodwork before and make sure your vet is experienced with bulldogs.
vet
can you please tell me what vet your using
thanks
Milton's vet
Averaste, we use Midwest Veterinary Hospital in Midwest City, Oklahoma, and his vet is Dr. Thomas. The docs at MWV see a lot of bulldogs.

Mary and Tank
Tank also had an undescended testicle. He came through surgery like a champ. Our vet is a bull dog vet and I was very comfortable. He knows I tend to get worked up, but he put me at ease. Your guy will come through just fine. Let us know how it goes.
He'll do fine!
I was super nervous too when Paisley got spayed. We take her to a vet that specializes in bullies...so I felt more at ease. She was out of it when we brought her home in the evening (they kept her all day for observation) sleeping mostly. The next day she was back to her old self. Good luck with everything!

Thanks, everybody
Thanks, everyone, the kind words. He goes in tonight for his pre-op baseline and bloodwork and we take him in Thursday for his surgery. Hopefully they will find that stray testicle hanging around somewhere close!

He'll do great!
It sounds like your vet is very knowledgable so just make sure he follows the proper protocol for putting bullies under G.A. Keep us posted!
