Tear Stains -Totw switch - how long?
Submitted by normanowski on February 5, 2011 - 5:52pmI recently switched my white baby bully (10 weeks) from Nutro dog food to TOTW mountain formula. He had bad tear stains on the Nutro. How long does it take for tear stains to clear assuming this food doesn't cause it as well? Is the TOTW pacific formula better in this regard. ?
He always gets filtered water. And sometimes I add blueberries to his dinner. Anything else I can add that will help.

We changed our puppy to TOTW salmon and...
he had horrible tear stains when we got him and after only 10 days, they were totally gone. He did have some stains on the TOTW lamb, so I personally prefer the fish. You also have the watch the protein percentage with a puppy and the fish is perfect at 25%. We use filtered water also and fish based grain free treats.
So far about 5 days in - and no sign of significant improvement
I am about 5 days in from switching between the TOTW lamb to salmon formula and so far no noticeable difference in tear stains. Is there anything else I can add to his food to help. He does already get filtered water only. Someone recommended added a littler frozen wild blueberries in with his meals to help?

I think 5 days is probably to soon to see a difference, and it might take longer since you switched his food again to the salmon. Just keep him on that food and give his body time to adjust to it.
