Hi everyone. We're new to this forum and was hoping some of you experienced folks could help us out. We have a 9-month old sweet bulldog puppy (Gracie) who is fawn and white pie bald. Her head is predominately white with fawn ears. As the warm weather approaches, I wanted to ask you if you've used sunscreen on your dogs before. If so, what kind would you recommend? I was at the vet's office this morning and they told me to avoid sunscreens that contained zinc. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Aileen
Good question
Not sure we will ever see the sun, it snowed here again in Central Washington today. But I am really looking forward to hearing the answer for this!

We never get sun.....Seattle you know
so sorry I'm really no help. Have never seen a need for sunscreen since bulldogs can't spend that much time in the sun. Mine do love to sun bath when it shows up once or twice a year....lol!
Well, odd as it may sound, I use Desitin on my ...
Bald faced Mustang gelding and it works wonderfully;-) I don't know if you can use it on the face, or near the eyes, but I use it on his muzzle to prevent sunburn every summer and it works great.

Thank you
Thank you for your suggestions. We don't intend to keep Gracie out too long in the sun. I noticed that just a little time spent out in the sun yesterday (less than 15 minutes) caused a little pinkness on her forehead wrinkles ;( so she seems to be very sensitive. As mentioned, much of her face is white (around the muzzle and forehead).
my archie didn't seem to need
my archie didn't seem to need b/c when it was hot he wasn't out for very long.
not sure if this is fact but they say the ones that are mostly white tend to be more
sensitive to everything...just make sure her folds are kept clean...talk about a trap
for bacteria...my archie's face was in everything,lol..
