Hi All!
I came home from work today and let Rocco out of his pen. He had diarrhea and strained a lot only to produce blood. This (especially the straining and blood) lasted about 40 minutes. He also threw up twice. I took him to the vet right away. Rocco had a fever and Dr. said he has a bug. Dr. gave him a shot to prevent vomiting and told me not to feed him for the rest of the day. He also gave me Flagyl....2 per day for 7 days. I have no idea when to start the Flagyl because Rocco does not like it without food and I am not feeding him anymore today. Should I make him rice tomorrow and give it to him tomorrow?
He hasn't vomited in about 5 hours and has not had diarrhea in about 4 hours. He is sleeping now. I feel so sorry for my baby : ( Thank you for all your help!
awww poor baby!
Can you give the pill with no food? Just stick it in the back of his mouth and rub his throat to get him to swallow?

HI ROCCO MOM I AM BEETLES MOM AND I THINK THAT BEETLE HAS THE SAME THING I THOUGHT IT WAS THANKSGIVING TURKEY. BUT I JUST HAVE ONE QUESTION DID THE DOCTOR SAY NO WATER AND FOOD OR JUST NO FOOD.THANKS FOR YOUR HELP
Hi the doctor said no food
Hi the doctor said no food and water is okay if he's not vomiting. So we tried to give him water last night but he didn't want it.
Thank you for the cheese suggestion. I hope he has some sort of an appetite
The sooner you start the flagyl the better...
it's an antibiotic that will help soothe the digestive tract. All three of my guys had a bug a few weeks ago, last two days for each of them. We always keep flagyl on hand for emergencies. Have you tried giving it in cheese, like the cheese in a can, when you squirt it, it covers the pill.
we are there tooo
my two pups have the bug...first day no food, this is what we did...my husband put the pill in back of throat and i had the baby syring filled with water so i squirted the water in mouth and no choice but to swallow...they are on boiled rice w/chicken or chop meat for a week tomorrow...and they are just about 90%...on a good note just having them on that bland diet their coats are so soft and full...
Rocco was better today. He
Rocco was better today. He slept a for a good amount of the day. He ate boiled rice and I gave him ice cubes because he wouldn't drink his water. Later in the day he was barking for food so I gave him a treat and more rice. I shoved the medicine down his throat, so I'm happy he took it. Tonight he even ate some of his food (not too much) he has not pooped but did urinate which is good because that means he's hidrated.
hope all the doggies feel

It was orange looking...not black. Not too much of it but enough for me to notice.
I think that
