I have 2 bulldogs, Cupcake will be one year this month, and Biscuit is 5 months old. I've noticed that Biscuit has stinky breath. We have been brushing their teeth since we got them each at about 2 months, so it's not like the teeth aren't getting brushed. However, we have to be very careful when brushing Biscuit's teeth as he is losing his baby teeth all the time now and it can be painful. We're currently brushing their teeth 1-2 times a week, probably more like once a week. Should we be brushing more often?
It's just confusing because Cupcake's never had a stinky breath problem, and they both eat the same kinds of foods and treats. Cupcake's more of a chewer, so maybe she's getting all the food buildup off her teeth by her incessant chewing? Is this a common puppy problem or does he have some kind of condition? I know, I know, ask my vet.

Would his teething have
Would his teething have anything to do with it? And if so, why?

Yes! I agree about the blood
Yes! I agree about the blood smell! When molly was teething, I remember her mouth smelled awful. I also remember it coming out of nowhere without any changes to food or treats. I brought it up to the vet and he mentioned it being caused my teething and the blood. I also never thought to brush her teeth yet. She does a lot of chewing on toys, but maybe I should start!
Teething
Seems like blood could cause stinky breath in a teething pup.
If the pup is well, and ya brush, maybe it's the type of food........
I'd look real good for pieces of sticks or food in the pups teeth and keep an eye on things.
Seems if there is something stuck, [doubtful] in the teeth the pup would act like there was a problem by pawing and slobbering.
Hope this helps some.
