I was asked to write an update on my attempt to find an alternative therapy for Riley's knee. I talked to 3 vets who work in rehab, surgery etc. Both surgeons, who also do the Stem Cell Therapy, said the same thing. It is unproven and works as often as it doesn't. They can't guarantee anything and it was going to cost around $1500 - $2000. A vet, who I take my dogs to for chiropractic adjustments and also specializes in rehab, said that I was probably just delaying the inevitable. She had treated a lot of dogs that it both worked for and didn't. I trusted her as she had no vested interest in either the treatment or surgery.
So.... Riley had the TPLO surgery on Tuesday. She is home and resting, but we are sad watching her in pain. She should be feeling better soon!
Thanks for the update
interesting stuff.
Yes, thanks for the update
I hope with more research, that alternative therapies like stem cell will cure our babies.
Kisses to Riley
Very cute name for a bully girl. Is she in pain? She should not be in any pain at this point. I would take her back in and get stronger pain meds or fentanyl patch or something. Best of luck with her recovery.
She will be back to her ole self in no time
it is tough on them but dogs are pretty resilient.
Hugs to the patient

Thanks for the loving
Thanks for the loving concern. Riley is doing much better now! Big change today in her activity - Day 6. She was more interested in being out with the family and in eating. I have been vigilant in setting 24 hour alarms and making sure her pain meds NEVER wear off. I've had bone surgery myself, and it's a lot harder to get rid of pain than to avoid it.
I'll pass on your messages to her when she wakes up! <3
