My 19 week-old bulldog (with white chest/neck) has developed what looks just like tear stains under her collar. Specifically, it is a spot underneath where her skin folds together from the collar. The reddish-brown spot seems to be under where the buckle/tags are, though that might be coincidence as the spot in question is hidden from the tags by her folds, it seems. It's a standard high-quality leather collar. As I understand it, tear stains near the eyes, which she also has but much less visibly because her face is mostly brindle, are the result of pH imbalance. Can "tear stains" happen anywhere on the coat, or might this be the sign of a different issue? (For now, we've taken her collar off in case it's an irritant).
Thanks for any advice!

my dog had this... its the collar!
the vet said so... we switched to a breathable thinner nylon , we keep it looser on her, and take it off while we are at home. my dogs like to be naked at home!
sincerely, christine
I never leave the collar on
I worry that he could get it caught on something when I am out. My cat (indoor) also does not wear a collar, although they are cute.Try this and see if there is an improvement.
stain removal?
Thanks, Christine (et al) -- were you able to remove the stain? did it just fade with time? we prefer, for her, to keep her collar off when at home, but we are out alot, she goes with us, and she's not-yet microchipped (doing it with her spay in October), so she still wears it often. I'll switch to a different collar right away, just curious if you were able to remove the stain?

It should fade with time.
Maybe using a shampoo to brighten coat my hasten the process. Kofi's always went away when shampooed.
