Hi, I have a 5 1/2 month old English bulldogs named Lola. I got her at about 4 months and she has always ate royal canine bulldog 32 puppy food. Shortly after I got her, she came down with diarrhea to the point that she would get up and poop 3 or 4 times in the night. So I gave her aorm x plus pill and it stopped the funny stool for about a week. By that time she was heavier than the 25 lb limit on that worm x pill. So when her stool got soft again I gave her the 25 lb and up pill. And again it worked for about a week. She doesn't have bad accidents at night like she had at first but it is still soft stool. Her appetite and everything seems normal. Any ideas?
Adult Food
She should be switched to adult food now. Bulldog puppies don't need puppy food after 4 months. You can try the Royal Canin Adult but IMO it's not a quality food. What is this pill you are giving her?
You can try some canned pumpkin (just straight pumpkin) about a tablespoon a day to firm her up. But it is likely the food that is the problem.
Well, the breeder she comes
Well, the breeder she comes from says the royal canine works best for all her dogs, it is bulldog 30 up to 12 months. If I switch to a different food; what is best for her? I have always heard that royal canine was best, so any suggestions would be great. And the pill I gave her was just a dewormer. Worm x plus. Thanks

Try here to get reviews for dog foods. Your food is rate 3 starshttp://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/ You have to find what works best...but soft stools would drive me nuts. I feed raw so I can't help you. When I was feeding Kibble I fed "Now" made by PetCurean a small family owned Canadian company. With the recent recalls I would never feed anything made in the Diamond Manufacturing Co.dog food
We had Tucker on Royal Canin for a bit with no issues. I only switched him to something else because I wanted something that had ingredients that were a bit more natural. We had him on Blue Buffalo but it had lamb and he had horrible gas(room clearing). NO lamb for Tucker!
Tucker is now on "Now" as it was suggested by someone and i liked the ingredient list. I have to say I also like the fact that it's made here in Canada and i'd rather give Tucker something that isn't shipped in from another country. Obviously that's not my sole determining factor.
Anyway, he has no issues with chicken but I know chicken doesn't work for some dogs and "Now" has chicken in it. It has worked great for Tucker. The protein percentage is just right and it's grain free. I was going to give him Taste of the Wild because so many people said how good it was. Guess i'm lucky we didn't.
Imo, if something works for your dog then stick with it. I also think food is trial and error. What works for one dog might not work for another.
Good luck figuring things out.

Royal canin bulldog is not a good food
But, of your dog was doing well on it, I would tell you not to change. But, since he's had so many problems, you need to change. I recommend a good grain free dog food with a different protein than chicken. A lot of bulldogs have a problem with chicken. Also, don't deworm unless the dog has worms.
Deworming
Agree - I have never in 16 years had to use a dewormer on my dogs. I have never seen worms or had a fecal test come up positive. We did de worm the puppies when they were something like 6 & 8 wks.
Of course you should deworm puppies
But after that only if they have worms.
Jacinda - Question
Do you have annual fecal tests done? I was told they aren't accurate. Your thoughts? I usually have them done every couple of years but I'm wondering if I'm wasting my money.
I don't
If I see worms in the stool I will deworm and I've had to do so twice in the last 9 years. But, I don't think the tests are accurate. I've seen worms in the stool and had a negative fecal test. So, especially if you've never had a problem with worms, I would not test every year.
Thanks
I'll think go to tests every 3 or 4 years.
Yes, just examine their stools occasionally
I thought I saw something in Kix's the other day but it was just grass.
