soft palate surgery need help

Bumper was neutered and had a soft palate surgery on monday he did great and came home a few hours later. everything has been great now today he seems to be trying to clear his throat a lot and making sneezing sounds when he sneezes little drops of blood are coming out. i left 3 messages with the vets office and am waiting on a call does this sound serious should i rush him somewhere else i am very nervous he is acting ok but lots of noise like clearing a hair ball.

I would have him seen

Whenever your vet gets in, perhaps better be safe than sorry and take him in. A non bully experienced vet would not have a clue. I do not think blood is normal, even in small amounts. I wonder if he is swallowing blood. Check to see if his stools look black. My Mr. Higgins had his palate and saccules done and I also was in a panic. This board helped me a lot. Do a search on "Mr. Higgins palate" you will see that he had an issue with vomiting post op. It was a lengthy surgery as it was supposed to be a knee surgery but they had to do the airway first, it was so bad.

Best of luck and post so we will know how Bumper is.

thanks

I did take him in and they put him on a antibiotic and said if it does not stop in 24-48 hours or if he vomits coffee grinds or has a dark stool to bring him right in.I am still worried but will watch him very closely

Is there any way at all to locate your vet?

A glob of blood is Not normal. I would suggest you look on the home page if this forum and look under vets by state....try to find a bully vet and call them. Just my thought.....

awww I know that dreaded feeling

My boy has been on Rimadyl for extended periods (months and months) and did very well. Just make sure regular bloodwork is done.
