For the last few days Oliver has been having a very small amount of blood in his poop. It isn't every poop and when it is it is not very much at all. He has never had really hard poops, they have always been pretty soft, however, recently they have been a little runny just at the end. He was recently on antibiotics but has been off of them for the last couple (4-5) days. Also, the skin around his anus seems to be sort of inflamed and irritated, I have been putting neosporin on it and it seems to be helping the outer area. Should I take him off his food and try hamburger and rice for the next few days to see of that helps clear up the irritation in his bowels? Should I call the vet ASAP? It is a very very small amount of blood which is why I am not more alarmed. He is acting totally fine, eating like a champ, drinking fine. Thoughts??
Aww poor guy
I'd def go with the bland diet and if it doesn't stop soon, have the vet check him out.
hmmmm
Not to freak you out but Chumlee earned his Landscaper title by eating mulch and getting it stuck. The "butt splinter" caused blood to drip out his butt when he tried to go. He was dropped off at the hospital and they did xrays and called me with the news. He didn't need surgery they were able to reach in there and get the bad stuff out. I picked him up on my way home from work the same day and he had antibiotics for 10 days. They saved the splinter and it was only a tiny less than one inch piece of mulch, so it really doesn't take much. I don't know if your bully is an eater, mine is, just thought I would share our story.

Skasqueeeeeeakaaay!!
Katie & Chumlee
Hmmm
Did Chumlee seem like he was in pain to poop? Oliver seems totally fine and his butt isn't seeming to bother him. I am going to put him on rice and hamburger and see if that helps, I am thinking it is some sort of irritation in his bowels somewhere. I will be keeping a close eye on his booty (and his poop...fun!) the next few days!! Thanks for sharing though, you never know with these little stinkers!!
could be anal

I just started having something simular with higgins. He eats a mix of taste of the wild and wellness senior. Its seems to keep his poops a good consistancy. Yesterday he started having runny poops and this morning there was some blood in the runny poops. I called the the vet. The gave me an antibiotic called (Metronidizole). I havent gave it to him yet. He is old and Im doing some research on the medicine right now.....
