Skin issue needs advice/ info

Dear all,

I have a dog which hes turning to 7 now. I have tried so hard to get the face back to before but nothing helps. It first was a small patch and it get worst and skin turns black now. I suspect that my other dogs licked his face so it never gets better, recently i seperate them into 2 groups now and thi sboy being alone and i see some improvement at least not getting worst. Anyone had any advice to share with ? i really hope he could get back to original btw im feeding him with TOTW + vege+ fruits + chicken

He needs to go to the vet

it could be many things but to me looks like an infection.  My boy gets bacterial infections and they scab over just like that.  If it is an infection the dog needs to be on antibiotics, just giving a good food will not fix it.  Hope he gets seen and feels better soon.

seconded!

Your poor boy will feel a lot better once he is seen by a vet and gets some antibiotics to help him!

Thanks all I've taken him to

Thanks all I've taken him to many vets and most of them will gave him ketokonazole pills but this pills is making him sick and vomiting. Do any have the name of the antibiotic? I've applying for sometimes some natural antibiotic cream and bath him more often twice weekly with also natural soap bar. It works very well on his body only his face part that is not healing.

you need to scrub

that with some betadine and i mean scrub...get all that old scabbie stuff off....what you have is a gross looking hot spot....get it clean and keep it clean....if after cleaning it still looks red and is ozzy you may have a second baterical infection from not keeping it clean in the first place and may need some antibotics....dont let other dogs lick it either....as for it being a food problem i am a raw feeder and believe everything is casued by gross kibble....but if your feeding kibble go to a grain free one...

and hot spots are caused by moisture trapped under the hair....you see them mostly after a dogs goes swimming...or hot humid days...

Hot spot...

I agree it looks like an awful hot spot, except for the black skin, which I think there recently has been a posting about something similar, but can't find it.  Do as Judy says about the cleaning--need antiseptic/antibacterial cleaner.  I can understand you not wanting to return to vet, but you just may have to if there is an infection, and unless he determines it's fungal, wouldn't prescribe the ketoconazole, I don't think (but who knows).  Many antibiotics cause stomach upsets, so try giving them a little while after feeding (unless directions say empty stomach).  And when on antibiotics, give the probiotics (even yogurt) in between to help replenish the good bacteria that the antibiotics also kill off.  I'd apply gold bond powder after it's clean and dry -- I thought it best to keep them dry, but some people do apply ointments like neosporin instead.  Good luck and keep us posted.

dont keep a hot spot moist

rule of thumb if its moist keep it dry...if its dry then keep it moist....anitboics only take care of any bacterial infection....you have to keep the area dry and clean...

thanks again my concern is

thanks again my concern is the black skin its spreading from a small spot i tried everthing. yes i do gave him yogourt mix in his food twice daily. I will talk with my vet to prescribe him with antibiotics for skin. Under his skin i always squeeze out some blood and i think its something not right inside. I would appreaciate anyone who can give me the name of the antibiotic best for skin. Thanks a lot again

Ketaconozole is used to treat

Ketaconozole is used to treat fungal infections. He may also have a secondary bacterial infection which is treated with an antibiotic like cephalexin. In addition to whatever oral drugs your vet prescribed, his face should be cleaned daily (probably more often) with a medicated shampoo like Malaseb (fights both bacterial & fungal infections). If the treatment your vet has prescribed is not helping, you need to go back to your vet (as soon as possible!) or perhaps see a dermatology specialist.

I have try giving amoxicilin

I have try giving amoxicilin antibiotics so hope it helps do u all think that i should wash the suspected hot spot with listerine ?
