Lulabelle has open sores all over and they bleed
We found her wondering the streets, licking the water puddles from the rain and she was in sad shape, she had open wounds with black crust, her nipples were swollen, coller grown into her skin.
Our vet gave her antibiotics and meds for yeast infection in her ears, she was looking great and this was about May, now she is a mess..she goes out to go potty and she gets red and blood spots, green nose, she wakes up with eye gunk.
We have washed everything in vinger, hardwood floors( we have no carpet) glass bowls, She is being feed MerrickWhole Earth Farms puppy food( she had a litter maybe 8 weeks before we found her..vet is guessing) so thought the puppy formula would be better. No human food expect yogurt and brown rice for a treat.
We bath her in special shampoo and use AD ointment and keep her folds dry, use corn starch on her sores to help dry them( read that on here) and socks on her feet when she scratches and she is in Central air with fans on her..Help
We are giving her a 25mg of benadryl in morning and she goes to the vet on Saturday
She needs help, I know she is sore...what can we do
Thanks, Lisa
You could try elminating all grains...
including the brown rice, sometimes a grain free diet helps skin conditions. I don't know what's in the Merrick food, we feed TOTW salmon/sweet potato and have healthy coats, no tear stains, etc. Thank goodness she has a caring family now.
Kathy
I tried the sweet potato/salmon from Wellness and she will not eat it, we tried Natural Balance and still no..Merrick is a Holistic food we get from a Pet Place ( a small shop that the owners do rescue and provide food for our K9 units and Animal Shelters and rescue) He carries the Wellness , Natural Balance and Merrick also Diamond and Nutro . If he doesn't have it he will get it, so we can try things that are suggested and we are open to anything at this point.
Her food has bison as main and blueberries, sweet potato no grains or additives in it..does that help
We have a golden doodle( Dodggie) and a rescue beagle(Sadie) they both do well on it and health shiny coats.
Thank you for the nice words, we love her and the funny thing is that the day we found her I told my husband that I was done with rescue( I was attacked by a pit bull) and Sadie was the last one, we adopted her, usually we are the dogs last home before going over the rainbow bridge( the worst cases and we love them to the end and try everything to get them better, but alot of times it is to late) We even go on the property and remove them..talk about scary at times..
Lula was crossing the road and we turned around and she was trying to get water of the pavement...My son and husband looked at me and said" how about one more" She is my Tatar tot and we have adopted her..or is it the other way around??
Lula sounds delightful...and so lucky to have found YOU!
I would have an allergy test done to immediately get an answer on what her issues are. Rather than trying eliminate this and that until you figure it out...the allergy tests can narrow it down quickly. At least I hope it will!!
One thing though, she probably needs to be on adult food, even with her just having recently given birth. She should be ok on adult.

I agree with Amy
I'm having skin problems with my bully also (posted about it below) and next stop for me is allergy testing. Hope your baby feels better soon. It sounds like you have done everything you can so far. So glad she is with you and off the streets.
onslowsmom
I have been reading about onslow for a few days, he sounds alot like my Lulabelle.
She goes Sat at 9:30 for her test, I just wish I could do something to help her now, I feel helpless.
I put a cool towel on her, bringing her water dish to her and feeding her, She is like a sick kid.
Thanks everyone for the fast response, I am truly amazed by this web sight and how caring everyone is.
After much reading I am going Raw, I am a vegetarian and have alot of the fresh foods and my husband is a meat eater, only buys from the meat market, I think with some help with recipes we can do this.
I would like some input on this and pros and cons, I know it is expensive, but I am already spending $70.00 a week in food and treats and ointments and powders.
Thanks to Amy also
I love the pictures, the bulldogs are all so cute
Sorry she's having this issue =(
I'm guessing that you are already giving her benadryl for the itchiness, that's all I can think of, =( I hope going raw helps her - keep us all posted on how it goes.
I'm extremely hesitant to go raw due to my own "issues" with raw meat. LOL I do not like raw meat, I don't like touching raw meat and I am insane about cleaning after I have it in the kitchen. I know it sounds crazy but it really is an issue for me. I'd have to feed it to him outside or something if we ever did it. Plus personally I'd have to grind it all because I'm also anal about him choking on bones.
Best wishes and let us know how she does on Saturday too. I haven't scheduled the appt for Onslow yet but maybe I'll do that tonight!~
Your a blessing, to take in
Your a blessing, to take in these poor beaten down dogs, your baby couldn't be in better hands. Anyone have a good book on raw? I am not sure how to even to try it out? Or price it out? I had heard 150 a month or more for 1 dog, now I have two so that 300. I have only heard of buying it in bulk frozen and you thaw it out and feed it to them. I would have to buy another freezer. I sometimes wonder if we shouldn't just be feeding them our foods, without the grains. Those old farms dogs did well and lasted for years. Dog food is just a quick way to fed your pet in a world of fast foods, with lots extra junk.
We will help out when we can:-)
I was new here once and needed all the help I could get! It;s only fair we help others who come along:-)
Many years ago I had a mixed breed dog named Lulabelle:-)

Thanks everyone, I called a
Thanks everyone,
I called a vet in Ohio that deals alot with Bulldogs
He thinks that getting her a Nb food for allergies and vitamins and Salomon oil and extra c and e is what she needs.
She wasn't taking care of and poor diet and having 3 c sections( from the scars), she has lost alot and it needs back in her.
So we know this wonder man named John and he runs are hometown pet store and he took such great care of us...like he always does and gave us samples of all the NB so we can see what she likes and we even tried Wellness...she likes sweet potato and venison and so does Sadie and Dodggie( our beagle and my Golden doodle).
Tea tree oil hot spot spray.....love , she took everything yesterday and last night and this morning
No new blister, hot spots looking good and no new sores this morning!!!!! She has been up and moving and taking naps even barked and got a chewie!!!
Will keep everyone informed on progress, but I am one happy mommy
Lulabelle got her name because my g grandma was Cindy Lu and My grand maw was Clara Belle= Lulabelle
I call her tater tot because when she walks and her butt shakes and she looks like a tater rolling..lol
Thanks so much again
Glad to hear you have a good
plan in place! It all sounds good to me! All dogs should be on some kind of fish oil. I'm a big believer in the tea tree oil too. I love it! I found a nice Aloe and Teatree shampoo for Onslow.
Good luck and best wishes to you and Lulabelle (love her name too)
