So back in December Boozer developed 2 stripes that developed to be a massive Seasonal Flank Alopecia in a shape of two symmetrical spots, the sides are bald and the top is really thin. The skin is waxy and dark. We did the skin scraping and blood work, and all looks fine. So seasonal Flank it is…The hair is very slowly growing back in certain spots, and he gets flax seed oil, recommended by the vet + thyroid tab, although the numbers were fine, but DNA test showed he is prone to thyroid issues, and it won't harm trying.
Was wondering who got it this year and if you see any improvement ever since the hair fell off?
Thanks,
Tom
Melatonin
Forgot to mention he was on melatonin for 4 months without any results.
I know several people who have used Calm Coat very successfully.
It is a topical spray on remedy that is a super good hair grower. I use is on my dogs and horses ALL the time for different issues. If you give it a try, give it a few weeks to really see a change.
Otherwise, best of luck to you...

Missing Link ?
I believe my dog is having the same issue. Where can i purchase this product and how is it used. I think she is sensitive to grains and wheat. It is added to the food we already feed her?
yes, you 'dust' her food with it -
We get it at the local PetSmart or PetCO it comes in a Gold Metalic bag and the name is MISSING LINK PLUS - go to their suppliment area - you wont beable to miss it, if they carry it (definately sticks out). We got the 1lb bag to try...and we are only about 1/2 way through the bag (if that) in the month she's been on it. It was about $24 a lb if memory serves me correctly.

alopecia
Hey my two year old bully got seasonal flank alopecia too. it started in november and its not almost july and his hair is not growing back at all. the vet wanted us to wait a bit to see if it would clear up on its own. apparantly some dogs never grow their hair back! anyways we just started him on oral melatonin. apparantly it really works!! you may want to give that a shot!
good luck!
