Hello, We have purchased our first puppy bulldog and we love him so much. Unfortuately the breeder sold us a dog with a stage 3 heart mumur. He is also unwilling to refund our money. Anyway, we love him so much that we couldn't give him back. So we will give him a great life. My question is he has been to the vets afew times now, but he has a greeny discharge from his nose. Our vet gave Baxter over the counter Benadryl and says it's an alergy, but it doesn't seem to be going away. Any one with the same problem I would love to hear from you.
Thanks

If it's colored secretions
It sounds more like an infection and will need antibiotics. The benadryl will only help dry/thicken the secretions and won't help the infection. I would make another appointment with your vet and insist on a broad spectrum antibiotic. You don't want it to turn into pneumonia.
As for the heart murmur... shame on your "breeder" !!! A real breeder would not have acted in such a fashion.
Hopefully, it's not as bad as they first thought and the pup will improve as he gets older.

Not a bulldog but...
my Boxer Max was diagnosed with an enlarged heart. My vet saved him, during finding out what was wrong w/him. I looked on internet about it, and it said once diagnosed (for boxers) they will live maybe a year. Well Max was 5 then. I will greatfully say he will be 11 in Sept. and you would never know he is that old, body is great, going a little blind and deaf to be expected. been on the meds since age 5. So don't worry - Be Happy! It may outgrow some.
if the discharge is green
get an antibotic.....a chest x ray can show the difference between kennel cough and aspirated pneumonia.....i would not wait to long...and i tink i would get a second look by another vet......dischage from a bully should not be taken lightly...as many can tell you here on this board....
also heart problems are tough to get right at that age....i would do an ultra sound...or recheck every three months but with a vet who does hearts...
good luck and keep us posted

My Sebastian was diagnosed with a grade 3 murmur
before I brought him home, but we were already attached and the breeder said if we found out it was more serious she would either replace him or help with the costs. We took him to Michigan State University's vet college and the cardiologist diagnosed him with sever pulmonic stenosis. My breeder offered to let me keep Sebastian and gave me another puppy for free. As of now, he doesn't act like he's got a defect in any way. He is way more hyper than his brother and though he is a little smaller in size, he is still in the normal range for puppies his age. We're just taking it day by day and hoping that he outlives us all. Good luck to you and your new baby and I agree with everyone else about the discharge.
