red face fold advice
Submitted by kimrisa on July 7, 2010 - 1:28pmEvery morning we clean Tuffy's face wrinkles with baby wipes but one of his facial folds is a little red and yeasty. What's the best thing to apply? A little Gold bond powder? Desitin? Bag Balm?

the only thing that works for
cooper when his nose fold gets yeasty is a vinegar & water mix. i found it on here somewhere. i believe it is one part apple cider vinegar to 2 parts water. i just dip a cotton ball in it & rub it in there a couple times a day until it's cleared up & then once daily after that. the gold bond powder works for pearl, but it just gets chunky & nasty on cooper. go figure! hope this helps =)

Saves me a trip to the pharmacy since I already have the apple cider vinegar from when I tried adding it to his water. I'll give it a shot!!
What about tear stains?
Milton's nose fold and tear folds and stuff seem to do fine so far with baby wipes or mild soap and water, but is there anything in particular that gets that rust-colored tear-stain type coloring out if the fold isn't gunked up or red?

2 things I have read
and have personally found to work well... using ear cleaning solution on a cotton ball to wipe the current stains down...only giving your bully bottled or filtered water to prevent further staining.

Something I actually know about!
I usually look here for advice but can actually give some input on this one LOL! I am now a vinegar advocate. I wipe down Gage's folds with apple cider vinegar and water on a cotton ball then dry and apply a layer of desitin. I also tried putting vinegar in his water but he was having no part of that! I began mixing it in with his kibble a little at a time and he has no clue! It's really helped with the acne and the overall condition of his coat.
