Raw Plunge

Today I took the plunge and bought some beef that was on sale at the store and a carton of eggs. So tomorrow, in order to reduce dependence on the raw patties I'm going to give her beef, green beans, and an egg. I'll put it in with the small chunks of patty; I bought enough for about two meals to see how it goes.

Question, though. Do I just crush the egg over the food and smash up the green beans and let her have at it?

I'm kind of scared.

She still has the on-again, off-again sneeze and nasal drip (she was diagnosed with kennel cough immediately after getting the vaccine and they said the symptoms could last a LONG time) and the ear looks a little better today but I'm not crazy about that Mometamax stuff; it is a thick cream and she runs away before I can get 8 drops in her ear!

Just hoping to help alleviate some of this stuff...

Good for you!

Go for it! Do you have a food processor? I throw the whole egg in with the veggies and a clove of garlic ( Kofi loves) along with the meat of choice. I promise, once you find the grove, you won't be sorry.

Just move along as you feel comfortable. Kofi loves raw chicken gizzards and livers. I am now comfortable giving her chicken backs and other raw meaty bones.

You are doing great!

Have fun, and your girl will be the best ever!!!

ok.....

very little green beans they make the stool loose one  crushed . egg...pound it really good to make the shell as fine as possible......are you giving and supplements??? you need to get cod liver tabs for your omega needs....also i would either get some ester c or vit c...one 500mg every other day....buy some lamb ribs and give one bone every three days....bite the bullet...you have to get those loose stools firmed up now.....add some fiber if you have to...metamucil...get them firm...also since you have loose stools add a teaspoon of yougurt to your meal...its a good probitic...your loosing good gut bacteria by having loose bowels....

try a sardine this week....or a cup of fresh salmon....

my wilson is 52 lbs and gets 1.5 lbs o meat a day...how much are you feeding????

Actually, I haven't been able

Actually, I haven't been able to update this fast enough.

We actually have been firming up some. Yesterday and the day before were some pretty good poop, firm and no problems going.

I am feeding premade raw patties now and mixing in extra meat, the pounded-up egg (thats what I did) etc so whatever bone is in there is what she is getting. For a treat she gets yogurt.

For supplements she takes vitamin C tabs, glucosamine/chondroitin, and fish oil tabs (they are salmon, sardine, and something else) as well as a very light sprinkle of nupro seameal.

She gets around 2 patties per day or the equivalent. I thought that each was 11 ounces so that would be 22 ounces or just under 1.5 for each meal. She was 52.4 at last vet visit although that was a loss of about 4 pounds since the vet visit before that.

Then you know she has freeze dried raw treats and stuff she gets throughout the day. I'm trying to learn here so...

I think she's at a decent weight; I don't think she should lose any more which is why I bought the extra beef to give her, but at the market all they have are those huge beef bones. If you're saying she could have lamb ribs I'll look for those and give her one. The last time I gave her a raw bone she stripped the "goodstuff" from it and ate the marrow; left the rest...

a couple of suggestions

get rid of the glucosamine/chondrotin.....your giving fish oil tabs so you dont need the other....good on vit c.... now remember your pre made patties have the correct bone ratio by adding in meat your throwing that off...not by a alot ... your doing good  but dont throw to much in their...

if she looks and feels good thats the weight you want....increase her portions...till you maitain a good weight.....i like to feed  three times a day...for lunch they might get a beef heart....tounge...some kidney....i eat three times a day...so i feel they should to.....

but thats up to you
