I'm placing my first order with the co-op and wondering what to order: This data base is for:
Ground Beef Lean (90/10) - $1.30/lb
Ground Beef (80/20) - $1.30/lb
Ground Heart - $1.30/lb
Ground Green Tripe - $1.30/lb
Ground Beef/Tripe Mix - $1.30/lb
Ground Organ Blend - $1.30/lb (Includes tongue, lung, kidneys)
Ground Chicken - $1.70/lb (Includes liver, heart, gizzards and bone)
Chicken comes in coarse or fine grind, 4 5# chubs in a 20 lb box.
I plan on ordering the Chicken coarse ground and I will also get Ground Beef (90/10) which comes free on the initial order. I was thinking about the Beef/Tripe Mix and I need to get organ meat...but I want beef liver so I will probably get that from the butcher here. Can you include heart as organ meat? Isn't it a muscle? What about the tripe? Is it really stinky?
I can alse get Tripe/Organ Mix instead of the beef/tripe mix. I have no idea what to order. Help!
hmmmmmm my crew is coming to your house!!!!!!!
chicken coarse any course grind is better than fine.....the bigger the chuncks the better....dont boter ground heart thats to expensive you can find heart for alot less expense......plain green tripe ...yes its a little smelly...but the dogs love it......then go ground organ blend hopefully that will come in course......
is thia from a supplier???? your chicken prices are a bit high????
but thats a really nice selection you have their.....
Thanks Judy!
I'll add the tripe and organ blend.

This data base is from a wholesaler that comes every couple of weeks. Yes, the chicken is a little expensive and I plan on continuing to grind my own because I can get whole WA chickens for .99 cents or less, but I wanted to have the coarse ground as well to try it.
They just opened a data base for Venison, meaty neck, spine as well as femur and knuckles. I can just imagine the mess with these. Not sure I'll try these yet, but since it's hunting season i should probably order some to store for summer. They would be a great summer treat in the yard.
We will also have rabbit, Emu, Sardines available...but I have missed those orders. I'm hoping the Sardines come back around soon.
I just got my freezer Sunday so now I can start stocking up.
forget the femurs
weight bearing bones such as legs are not good their are no benefits so i would put my money on meat vs leg bones....the knuckles are good.....meaty necks are good...unless your going to need the spine for bone content i wouldnt spend my money on that....are they whole rabbits or ground.....rabbit whole is alot of bone.....i feed one whole rabbit then a heavy two meals with just meat no bone....i would also do that if your feeeding the neck.....remember bone is only 10% of the meal......
check your sardines and make sure their fresh and not processed in a oil or salt.....
only one freezer hehehehe
Yes I figured
no femurs.
I can get rabbits whole I believe. But since I'm freaking feeding bones like that I will probably pass unless I can get the rabbit course ground or chopped.
Thanks for the tip on the sardines, I will check on that. But I'm pretty sure they are fresh frozen...no processing. They say they average about 10 inches, nice big "fishsickles" is what the others in the group call them.
Thanks for all the tips!
I have recently had some trouble with Ester vomiting the beef. I tried some pork with her this morning, will see if that works. Kohl doesn't seem to be able to handle the salmon oil (he's getting staph like bumps on his back), so I'm going to get him some cod liver oil.
MacKenzie is like Mikie...he can eat anything.
