Raw fed, eat lots of grass?

Okay so I'm confused... maybe Stella's belly is telling me she does actually need veggies? I stopped feeding Nature's Variety processed raw which was 95% meat and the rest vegitables/fruits.... to straight raw...

First I'd like to say that since stopping the processed raw she has stopped producing red tears. She still gets tears in the morning but when I wipe them I'm not getting red on the wipes and her hair is no longer falling out.

I've been feeding buffalo, chicken, pork, beef and eggs. I add some puppy milk and a crushed vitimin and I sorta "shake and bake" style powder them with the vitamins.I give her bones but none are digestable.. these are just bones she takes out and chews the meat off of.

Well she's only pooping grass and a bit of slime. I'm thinking that's because she's using all of the meat... but why is she eating so much grass?!!! - I've tried giving her yogurt but she hates it. I have some benebac and forti-flora that I bought for the pups... Should I give her some of that? Do you think she's eating grass because of digestive issues that priobotics would help?

dogs may eat grass

if they have a digestive upset.....to much meat gives the runs you need to add some bone or the stools wont form right....remember kibble has binders so get some lamb ribs and give her one every other day and the stool should start to form

short term fix would be to big some pumpkin

pumpkin?

I have some pumpkin but I thought that was for relieving constipation? Does it stop diarrhea?

stops them up

i have sb bulldogs and when they get the runs you have to stop them fast...i use one can becasue i cant let the loose bowels go.... you can try a cup or 1/2 cup at each meal to help

wow thanks!

Let me see if she'll even eat it,lol - she's fickle.

LOL

I meant finicky........ hahaha

She is kinda fickle though.. she can never make up her mind what she likes. One day she loved eggs.. now she hates them. So she's both finicky and fickle, haha

it is a female privledge

to be both finicky AND fickle, especially a pregnant female. :-)

judy, what about dirt?

lately the last couple of times we've been out Matilda is like making a bee line for flowerbeds. she takes a giant clod of nice soil from the beds outside and chomp.

what is that about? she eats grass more than i would like but for the first time she seems to want soil...

ugh!

lol

sounds like pica, women go through this when they are pregnant if they are missing vitimins/minerals in their diet. Also it could just be that the flowerbed smells like manuer. How new is the flowerbed? I know lots of dogs eat cat poop... I can't see why they wouldn't be interested in cow poop too. ?

I've seen that

There is a dog in my community that does this all the time.  He loves windy days because the dry warm dirt blows up and he barks at it and licks it.  If the wind isn't blowing he paws it and makes his own cloud and chomps it.  There is a "high traffic dirt path" in our park that he does this in you can actually see it in my signature pic below on the right.  He is 6 years old and has been doing this since he was little.

very dangerous keep her away

flower beds are treat alot with cow or horse manure that has been treated....their are chips that have been treated with a chocolate scent and dogs have been dieing from  digesting this.....keep her way from flower beds.....dirt eating is also dangerous as their could be anti freeze  or ...leaking oil from cars....plus if their are stones they will casue a blockage...even eating grass could casue problems as alot of people treat their lawns

strange

she only does it in our yard. we don't use chemicals and the flowerbeds are in plain topsoil with plain pine bark mulch.

double check that pine much

if your buying it...its been treated....dirt eating is bad and should be stopped as much as possible
