Bear's poop has been coming out like a dark brown liquid. I guess diarrhea? I have never seen that before. Here is what I have been giving him:
in AM he gets
10 oz raw chicken bone (granted some pieces do have meat attached)
green beans
1 teaspoon organic pumpkin
IN the PM he gets
10 oz raw chicken meat
1 small clove garlic
1 teaspoon yogurt
1 teaspoon organic pumpkin
raw baby carrots
2 tablets glucosimine/chondrotin with MSM
1 teaspoon fish oil
Thats all he gets. Should I give him more bone? Am I giving him too much in the PM?
Thanks for any advice!
you have way to much stuff
back off from all the additives.....you dont need all that.....just keep it very simple.....10oz ?? how much does your dog weigh.....my wilson is 53 lbs and get 1 1/2 lb of meat a day....
but first get rid of all that extra stuff...why would you feed pumpkin when your feeding bone to keep stools firm.....
keep it simple...keep it easy...for the first 60 days just bone meat and organs....
and get thos stools firm again asap!!!!!!
I agree with Judy
only give him meat, bone, organ. When I switched my old dogs I started them off with less than their regular amount, then gradually increased it to their full meal. My one old girl is super skinny too, very bony, and she actually was able to gain a bit with better food even though it was not the full amount. If he needs 20oz per day I'd start with no more than 8 oz per meal of meat/bone only then gradually increase it. Maybe even a bit less for a day or 2. There really is no need for all that other stuff, veggies and yogurt and pumpkin. Even hold off on the fish oil for a bit til he adjusts to the new food. I only gave the digestive enzymes the first month or so, then started back with the glucosamine and fish oil and organ meat.
