Hey guys-
Wanted to let you know Bear's progress. He is doing great on raw.
My question is can I give him raw ground chicken for meat portion in the P.M.? I am currently using bonless chicken breast for meat portion.
I am giving him 2-3 chicken necks in the A.M. for bone.
Thanks!
Need to specify...
I am speaking of ground chicken like you buy at HEB? The one in the roll and the package? Is this okay?
i dont understand....
when buying any chicken...be sure you are reading the labels very carefully.....it should be as chemical free as possible.....some chicken is to high in sodium...and other additives.....check your labeling,,,,especially that roll stuff
let me know
I have never seen ground chicken
so I suggest you really read the label to find out what's in it first. The sodium level shouldn't be in the 100's.

I do not separate meat/bone
When you buy bone in chicken, there is meat AND bone together, and this is what I feed my dogs. Sometimes they get more white meat, which tends to be meatier, and sometimes it's thighs/quarters, sometimes its' the whole chicken chopped up. I never feed a high bone exclusively meal, like necks or backs, I feed a mixture at every meal that includes bone. They do still get ground beef, or boneless pork. Lately though chicken has been the least expensive, so that's what they've been getting the most of.
Except for that pack of hamburgers I found in the freezer while my husband was out of town. I didn't know they were outrageously expensive angus beef that he had been saving-OOPS!
At least I put back the tiny little steaks I found in there too, that turned out to be filet mignon's! I thought they looked like perfect doggy-bite-sized pieces.

naugty naughty cathy
angus beef and steak....the kids are in heaven!!!!!!!
Ground Chicken
like when you buy ground beef or ground turkey. It comes in a roll or package. I don't think I've seen them with sodium labels. I was just wondering if this was okay.
Or can I give ground turkey or ground beef as well?
We came back from the vet yesterday and Bear's yeast infection cleared up!! I am going to try putting apple cider vinegar in his ears as a cleanser to prevent future infections.
He is loosing weight with raw diet. Vet said he needs to be at least 50# (he is 4.5 yrs old). He is down to 61 #.
sounds like
your doing great....improvements are amazing when they start to happen...keep up the good work
I started raw today!
Hello,
I saw your posting and unfortunately I have no advice for you but I will be seeking YOUR advice b/c I just started feeding my bully raw today! He LOVED it! Oh man...I put down a chicken back, and breast of chicken and he chewed and chewed and chewed and loved it! It has been several hours and no vomiting or diarrhea or any of those other warned side effects. I had a bet with my boyfriend. I said, he's gonna love the raw chicken and my BF said he wouldn't. Well we put a bit of a wager on it and now...I win...he is doing MY laundry for the week :)
Thanks for your updates, I'll be following and learning with you :)

Good for you!!!!
U will find it is the best thing for your bullie. I was hesitant at first but now that I see Bear is not licking or scratching and no more yeast, it is soooo worth it!! With the help of great people on this board, you should be fine!!
Keep us updated on your bullie's progress!!
This might sound nuts...
...but we are on the second day of feeding raw...and I could SWEAR joeyB's front paws are way less red, irritated, and angry looking...now maybe this is a coincidence...or maybe it isn't! Hmmmm! Thanks for the encouragement!
