My bully who is 2 has these pimples that started out red like a rash and then in a day or 2 there would be pus in it all over his belly on each side of his jewel. So I put the AD baby diaper rash ointment on it and I thought it seems better, but on the 2nd day, it got really red and then his skin in that area was thin it's like as if one get when you get burn and get burn blister. but the pus still shows up and i tried to pop it and put on betadine so he won't be infected. he is also on antibiotics zenequin in cause of infection from his regular vet. Does anyone know what this may be or is there an ointment or cream I can put on? He is not itching or anything, but that area the skin is thin, you can lift it up a little and wrinkled. he also has these red bumps on his back too and usually these come and go, but this is the first time that his belly got worse so i think it could be an allergic reaction to the AD baby diaper rash oitment I use?

Your description sounds
very similar to what Onslow had. The vet said it is pyoderma, or a bacterial skin infection. The only thing that happened to Onslow, that you didn't mention happen to yours is his hair also fell out in those areas. He probably needs meds. Pyo means puss and derma is skin.
Here is a pic I googled of pyoderma.

If that is what it is
stop using the baby ointment and start putting listerine on those spots, listerine kills bacteria. If its more then a few spots he definitely needs meds. I had to put my boy on Cephalexin for a month and he is finally starting to look good again.
Oh and one more thing
(if it is pyoderma, which I suspect it is) the vet will give you an antibacterial soap to bath him in twice a week. That will help clear it up and the itchiness too.
i have been using malaseb shampoo
that seems to work better than the pyoben or hexadene shampoo. I also have the tri-chlor 4 spray but hesitant to use it in case of allergic reaction.
His hair doesn't fall out. when these on on his back, it would turn to pus they dry into scabs and fall off. I shaved the spots when it's bad so it can dry up fast, but I've noticed that the furs doesn't grow back as fast, It's been a couple months since I shave that spot and you can barely see some hair growing.
thank you for replying.

Thank you will ask vet about the cephalexin
did it clear it all up? do you know what causes this, is it food allergy?
skin
It sound like what a lot of poeple were experiencing. You ahve to get him on Cehplexin. That's the only antbiotic that has worked for me. It it allgergy relted I believe. I have five bulldogs and they all had it. I also put them on grizzly salmon oil and it seems better. Also Gold Bond has an ointment that I used on the skin fold and it reall helps. Give him a bath in a medicated shampoo too. Ketochlor.
yes, it looks like but not that much, it is mostly red which
I think is due to the inflamed reaction from the baby ointment. I have stop using that when it flares up the 2nd day. He had this happen before and was put on simplicef which made him vomit and break out with more red rashes so the dermatologist at UC Davis gave him zenequin and also put him on capstar and interceptor both of these were high doses that he took for 2 months and it did clear up and she wanted to put him on for 6 months because she did a skin scraping and found 2-3 mites and said he hand demodex mange, But he started to vomit and feel lethargic so I took him off and he was fine, we do have a few spots here and there but it cleared up in a few days. It just that he had more spots on his belly this time and when I put on the diaper rash ointment A+D for baby I think it caused an allergic reactin because that area was really red and it looked like some water blisters formed and the skin very wrinkled and thin, it's like when you have a burn blister,
I will ask my vet about the Cephalexin, thank you!
