Question for white bulldog owners

Oliver is mostly white with fawn spots.  He is 13 weeks old now and we can really see his spots on his skin below his coat and can also see the pink of his skin.  I think part of it is that he has gotten some more freckles but i think he is thinning also.  He is almost bare behind his ears.  Is this something that is expected?  We have him on TOTW pacific stream and started supplelementing salmon oil 2 weeks ago.  All thoughts appreciated.

my Sebastian

is mostly all white on his head and chest and I can see pigment spots under his fur and pink of his skin showing through his fur, especially behind his ears too. He is 12 weeks old, so I'm thinking it's something that must be normal for puppies.

My Casey is mostly White

My Casey is mostly White also. She was very thin in these areas also and you could see the pink skin underneath. She is 8 months old now and it appears that her hair has thickened and you cannot see to the skin anymore.

The breeders might know this answer

Hopefully they will chime in soon. They might be at shows again this weekend hang in there. I have a white Bulldog but he was 18 weeks when I got him he is 14 months now and his coat is thick as ever! I do remember his head being a little pink and the vet mentioned something about the thinnest part of their fur is on their head. He had correct ears and his ears were never glued. I don't know if the glue from glueing ears would remove fur from your puppy? Just some thoughts.

Never glued his ears but both

Never glued his ears but both are rosed now although the right one popped up about a week after the other one.  Have some funny pictures.  Dont really mind if fur stays like this, just want to make sure its just developmental and not due to something we are doing wrong with food, allergies, etc.

thinning coat

I've occasionally seen the thinner fur behind ears but don't think it amounts to much, especially if the rest of his coat looks good. Some Bullies naturally have a thinner hair coat and thats just the way it is and it seems to be more common with white dogs, or maybe just easier to see in white dogs? With Spring & Summer coming, take precautions that he doesn't get sunburned. I use spray-on baby sunblock &/or limit the time in the sun, or put an ex-pen in the shade.

As to your pup flopping his ear - often when they are teething a dog with perfectly rosed ears will suddenly flop one over or hold it upright. Pups start loosing their baby teeth about 4 months old so the timing is about right. When you are cuddling with the pup, reach down and re-fold the ear into the correct position and rub the base of the ear with your thumb to relax him (and you) and remind him to hold the ear correctly. If the ear seems to not go back to the correct shape, you can always re-glue it.
