Clayton, unfortunately, had his first head tremor last night. I have read alot about them and know alot of people feel its low blood sugar related. However, Clayton had gotten a small amount of ice cream about an hour before this actually happened. He does'nt usually get ice cream only on special occasions as a treat, but I am wondering could his blood sugar really have dropped that low within an hour???? It lasted for 10 minutes and he did not have any more the rest of the night. Cooper had an episode once, but I think it was related to an ear infection that he had going on, I had read that they can also cause them. The only thing different Clayton had yesterday was the ice cream and he also had his monthly heartworm pill? Thanks for your thoughts.
Head Shakes
MacKenzie gets them now. They started when he turned 7, never had them before, he'll be 9 next month. My vet says they have nothing to do with low blood sugar and pretty much everything I have read is in agreement. But they do tend to go away after they get something sweet. Not sure if it has to do with the sugar or the fact that when they are distracted they stop the head shaking.
I don't always agree with the vets.
For my piece of mind when MacKenzie gets them...he does get something sweet to eat, usually a couple of spoonfuls of honey.
Gonna Jinx myself - Gizmo had those 2 or 3,,and all quiet now
She definately had 2 episodes about a month ago- but none since - I am following the advice of the 'distract' method
Last steps taken May 26, 2014 -- Been rolling along ever since . . . .
I have found them to be food related with my dogs
For some reason some kibble causes them to have head shakes but, I don't believe it's low blood sugar. Low calcium maybe, I'm not sure.
I have found the same.
I give Sophia a little something with sugar in it and they go right away. Not sure what causes them, but I do believe it is a food related issue.
