Question about spaying

My puppy lulu is going to be spayed tomorrow. Is is necessary for her to were a  "collar" to keep her from getting to the sutures? She can't even try to reach her her belly :)

Thanks!

I suspect it depends, in

I suspect it depends, in part, on Lulu. From what my vet has told me, boys are more likely than girls to go for the sutures in general. (Not just bulldogs -- all dogs and cats.)  That said, though, my girl kitten wouldn't leave hers alone, and had to wear a collar until she healed. With Beatrix, I made them send a collar home with us, remembering how Pippen had been, even though they said she'd been ignorning them since she woke up post-surgery.  In the end, we never used it -- Beatrix utterly ignored her sutures.

Please be sure your vet

does pre blood work since she had so much trouble with the cherry eye surgery and the anethesia.

It is doubtful she will need a collar. Most bulldogs can't reach a incision for spays or c-sections. But you do need to watch the sutures closey for any infection or opening. I had to hot pack Cleo's incision as she opened up after about 4 days and they had to add a couple of staples and put her on antibiotics.
