question about 4 1/2 male bulldog

Hello-

My dog starting limping last night and his right hind leg is swollen and so is his paw. The swelling does go up to the hip. I called the vet and they cannot see him until tomorrow. Do you have any suggestions that might help until then.

Well... the obvious things

Would be to restrict activity (no jumping, pulling, etc). You may also want to try cool compresses. It kinda sounds as though he was bit by something? If the swelling progresses, I would call and see if you could give some benadryl (1 mg/lb). Poor kid...

and NO activity until the vet can see him. I would be very aware of any breathing issues, and if his behaviour changes at all....an ER vet would be a good idea. Sounds like a bite of some sort...that type of swelling...from toe to hip, is not indicative of an injury but more of a bite or sting...at least in my experience.
