Just wondering if anyone else has heard of using calf's liver as a treatment for puppy mange? Dolly Mae had a rough time with the mange. She had an allergic reaction to the Mitaban dip and ended up on Ivomec, .4cc's daily. Four weeks into treatment she was still looking worse with each passing day. By accident, we ran into a fellow bulldog owner while at the beach and he told us he suffered through the same thing with his dog when she was a pup and someone had suggested that he feed her calf's liver 1x per day. He said he noticed a difference in 3 days and a month later she had no signs. Well, we felt we had nothing to lose and started her on liver the same day. Sure enough, 3 days later, we noticed new hair was growth on her face. Two weeks later, we took her off the Ivomec and continued to feed her the liver (she LOVES it). Yesterday (four weeks into the liver feeding/two weeks after quitting meds) she went to the vet and both skin scrapes were negative. Plus, she looks FANTASTIC!! Even the vet was shocked at the difference in her appearance. Of course, I know it could all just be a coincidence, but I swear it was the liver that did it. Am I crazy or has anyone else heard of or experienced this?
Never heard that
but I'm glad it worked! Wow - calfs liver. Wish I heard of that 4 years ago when we went through it.
Glad that it worked
We went through it too, it was with a different medicine and took a few months.
no becasue
you built up her immune system...beef liver is rich protein...instead of trying natural remedies...many vet go to poisonous dips and antibiotic that will lower the immunity and cause things to get worse
good it all worked out
That's great to know!
Kofi suffered through puppy mange for a few months after she was spayed.
I just love this forum!
Always something helpful to learn.
