We have a boy that is about 5 months old now. He is getting big quickly. I would like to try and show him if possible, I think he is show possible but I don't know yet if he is show "potential" or not, so I am concerned about how long to leave him on puppy food.I have heard various things said about when to take him off puppy food. Is there a general age when you should take him off? I have heard a breeder say leaving them on puppy food too long will make their paws "spread out"... is this true? What are the consequences (other than weight gain) of leaving them on puppy food too long?
We switched our guys at 4 months...
you don't want a bulldog to grow too fast, it can cause problems such as pano. Try to find a good, grainfree adult food with about 25% protein, that will help ward off any problems. Most of the grain free fish or lamb come in around 24%.
Mine are off puppy food at 4 months.
It is too rich for them. I would go ahead and switch, but that's just me.

Adult food at 4 months.....
is when we've always switched in the past. However, our last litter was put on an all stages food at weaning and won't need to switch. I believe one reason is that the protein can sometimes be excessive for this breed in puppy food possibly causing growth plate issues.
