I was given a bulldog male puppy, almost 10 weeks old, for Christmas this year. He is completely adorable but seems to have a cold (thinking it might be kennel cough/bordatella). He was given a shot of penicillin right before he left the breeder and it taking a dose of Clavamox twice a day for 2 days so far to try to fight the infection. He still plays great and it is not getting any worse but he seems to have trouble sleeping for longer periods because of the cough. I take him into the bathroom for steamy air during showers but was wondering if anybody else has dealt with this and knows of a home remedy to help him sleep better as I want to avoid any additional medication at his age. Any suggestions??
Ill put up a picture of his cuteness later when I am on a computer and not my phone!
Merry Christmas to you and all the bulldogs! :)
Congratulations!
I'll bet he's adorabull. We had a round of kennel cough a few years ago and gave them Robotussin (without decongestant, just plain cough syrup) but I don't know about a puppy that young. The thing you have to watch out for is pneumonia. I'm assuming the breeder was treating him for this before you took him home. You probably need to take him to a vet for a checkup anyway, hopefully it will be getting better on the antibiotics he's on.
Thank you for the tip! We
Thank you for the tip! We also have a 10 month old bulldog who seems to be catching the cold also so I will keep the Robitussin in mind should she develop the cough also. But hopefully she will not need antibiotics also. Thanks again!
