Hi,
This might seem like a wierd question, and don't know if anyone can give me advice on this. I just recently got a juicer and am wondering if I can use the left over pulp to add to my dog's diet of raw food. I try to use as much organic as I can but it is sooo expensive. At the very least I soak and wash everything before juicing so hopefully that will reduce or eliminate most of the harmfull stuff (pesticides etc). The only thing I know for sure that is a big no no for dog's is grapes. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I will also post under health and medical. Wasn't too sure where to post :)
Thanks

I know that the veggies should be
pulverized to break down the cell walls so the nutrients are available. I put the veggies in my vita-mix and just about liquify them. I would think that the pulp left over from the juicing would add fiber, but not so sure about the nutrients.
I know that onions should never be fed, or seeds from apples. I do mix garlic in Kofi's veggie glop. That is also controversial, but I believe in the amounts I feed it is beneficial.
Hope this helps some.
don't worry about the garlic Carol!
garlic is only dangerous if they eat a LOT, like if they got into a container of chopped garlic and ate the whole thing. (Kind of like Tylenol-take a few and your headache goes away but take the whole bottle and you're in trouble).
To get the best benefits of garlic (allicin), you need to crush the fresh garlic and use it within 15 minutes or so. The allicin is formed when the 2 types of cells in the garlic are combined (from crushing) and it continues to chemically react til the allicin changes to something else. It is unstable and only lasts for a few hours at most and is destroyed by cooking.
Apple seeds contain cyanide, in minute amounts. You don't have to worry if you ingest a few, or even of you drop a couple in your mix and pulverize them. It's only in very very large quantities that there would be a concern. That's all I know of to worry about apple seeds. Have you heard something else besides cyanide to be careful of from them? Audrey LOVES apples!

I would think it would be fine!
Dogs do not have a dietary need for vegetables, which in NO WAY means that veggies are harmful to them, it only means that it is not required for their diet to be nutritionally complete.
There is a certain amount you should not go over if you do feed veggies, (maybe 5% or so?) I really don't know because I don't feed veggies. I do know that in order for dogs to get any nutrients out of them they need to be smashed, so sounds like the juicing process does just that! I really can't tell you how many nutrients are left in the pulp once the juicing process is over, my guess is that there are still some nutrients in there your dog could get out of it.
I would be careful of too much fruit or really starchy veggies. Dogs do NOT need carbohydrates at all, (remember that just because they do not NEED it does not instantly mean it is bad for them) they get their energy from animal fat. Too many carbs makes them gain weight.
