Has anyone ever seen a Bulldog bred for the first time and at 47 days saw no signs that she took, But actually did.? I have a female who, I just can not tell, her nipples are the same, or not that much bigger that it is really noticable except she looks a bit fatter ?. Just wondering if anyone has come across this before .

Did u
Have an ultra sound done??
Yes....
If it is only a puppy or two she may not be showing yet. With big litters they show sooner. Alot of the puppies growth is done the last 2 weeks. But I have also had some that I would swear were and after the x-ray were not. It is a hard waiting game. But you do need to find out so you can get everything lined with your vet. Good luck
It happened to me.......
I am a first time owner and she got pregnant her first heat. I didnt know when she went in. I started noticing her nipples swelling at first and i brought her to a local vet. they did a blood preg. kit and it came back neg and then i brought her back a week later and it was pos. I was worried because i knew the only time that she was with a male dog (thank god he was also reg. english bulldog) was 44 days earlier. I still wasnt satisfied with the vets due date so i brought her to another vet. Well he did a ultrasound and confirmed she was pregnant and he couldnt tell me how far along she was... Oh, its been a terrible experience. Finally, at 53 days pregnant i found a vet that did an x-ray. At first she said she didnt see anything, but wanted to do another ultrasound. And to my relief she saw all the pups and she is set up for a c-section on the 8th of this month. I asked what it meant why she couldnt see the pups and she said sometimes you couldnt because of all the fat and intestines. Can you believe she is already dilated to 2 centimeters and if I listened to the first vets she could've went into labor and i dont even want to think about what could've happened. Sorry about my long comment i am so stressed nowq. Its like me myself is due anytime....lol. But yes, Daisy is still small she is only carrying 3-4 pups at the most... Her stomach has dropped low and her back teats are filling up and i can feel the pups moving. Is she really short or average height.? Have you brought her to teh vet yet? I would ask around to other bulldog owners and try to find one that has experience with the breed , not all vets qualify as i have explained... Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Puppies
Ya, I have been breeding for 20 years, but, never have I not been able to tell. I think she just did not take. But, you are right, you need to find a vet that knows what they are doing and make sure they use the correct anestisia there is only 2 types that are safe for Bulldogs. I have tons of experience with the breed if you need advice. I have raised litters for over 20 years. Just have never not been able to tell, which brings me to notion she did not take.
