Hi...My bulldog has a joint infection, left front leg. She had some swelling above the joint...I thought it was stress related...maybe even an old fracture from jumping off beds....but she is positive for sepsis in the joint. She is on antibiotics, being rs at a vet who specializes in bulldogs and I am just prayiing for the best.  Thanks

Has your dog been tested for Lyme Disease?

RA is not common in dogs

Which isn't to say the dog can't have RA but it is rare. How old is the dog?

RA in bulldogs

According to my Vet who is listed on bulldog vet list; he has seen bulldogs with RA in just extremity. She is only one years old....and I am just devastated with this possible RA diagnosis....any help appreciated...she was on two antibiotics....continues with metacam 2x daily, and was perscribed tramadol for pain.....what was diagnosed by an orthopedic dr as a bad sprain has now been diagnosed as RA.....and it has been seen before in bulldogs....not good....

It's not unheard of in dogs but it is rare

I'm curious as to why you believe the Vet's diagnosis over that of the orthopedic specialist. I'm not saying it isn't possible for the dog to have RA, but since it is rare in dogs I would probably take the word of the specialist. If it were my dog, I would immediately start them on Adequan. Adequan is excellent for arthritis and it also helps them recover from an injury. So, it would help your dog no matter which Vet you believe.

is their a place

to go  to swim.....non stress exercise is the best,,,, buy a life vest and ask a friend to use their pool....i really think a raw diet is the best...its very simple to do...their are many people  here who do it.....and i would also look for a holistic vet...their going to be more helpful going a more natural route....
