PLEASE HELP US!!!

My wife and I have a 6 year old male bully.  For the last week, he has been whining non stop.  I mean all day, all night.  He doesn't sleep and we don't sleep.  We have taken him to 2 different vets and both times the bl;ood work and urinalysis came back clean.  They say his heart and joints are good as well.  Has anyone else experiewnced this because we are slowly going insane.  Thanks

I wish I had some advice

that is awful.  I hope you can figure it out.  Have you checked and pressed on every inch of his body?  I can imagine you are at your wits end.  Maybe try an internal specialist?  Poor baby.

No experience but a couple of thoughts

A couple of possibilities came to my mind:  something in his mouth like an abcess or a bad tooth or something stuck in his paw(s).  I totally agree with  Lisa's suggestion to go over him thoroughly to see if anything is causing him pain.

Good luck with your boy; I hope you can find out what's causing his distress.

Dang, no advice here other than what the others have said.

Have you changed food lately? Have you changed any part of your routine with him? They are SO sensitive to those things that any little thing could throw them off. But my inclination is something is hurting him or bothering him physically. Go over every inch, inside the mouth and down in the ears with a scope. Tail pocket? Check that too. Anal glands? Gotta make sure they are okay also. Broken toe nail? Check each one closely.

Best of luck. Wish I could tell you more.

Then it's not

an over abundance of hormones :)

does he seem restless

like he doesn't sit or lie still, but get up and pace around? does he eat normal, go bathroom normal? If he seems restless, you might have him evaulated by a neurologist and have an mri done, something in his brain could be triggering this unusual behavior. I'm going thru it now and the mri showed lesions in his brain and mine was restless, head tilt, circling, loss of balance and depending on where in the brain that could effect other motor skills. His bloodworks, xrays, ultrasound came back all negative. Only the MRI picked up the lesions and when the neuro test his reflexes, he was a bit slow in the back legs.

yes, he eats normal.  he does

yes, he eats normal.  he does drink a lot more water now.  sometimes he can't sit still.  but most of the time he is whining when he is either sitting or laying down.  what did the nuerologist say could be done?  any meds to help?  I don't want to spend thousands of dollars just for someone to say there's nothing they can't do anything to help.

make an apptmt to see a vet

an enlarged adrenal gland can cause him to drink more water or pancreatitis. Only way to tell would be bloodworks to rule out pancreatitis and do an ultrasound so see if he has an enlarged adrenal gland. Mine has a slightly enlarged adrenal gland, but his bloodworks are normal, so no signs of pancreatitis. The neurologist had to do an MRI as in your case, this could be a possibility if the ultrasound shows nothing, because his behaviour is not normal that could be something in his central nervous system. Mine drinks lots of water, and he was restless, can't sit or lie still for more than 5-10 minutes, head tilt, walk like he was drunk for a day, next day walk normal, but still has a head tilt. I had all the tests done, bloodworks, xrays, ultrasounds and only the MRI shows lesions in his cerebral cortex and in is brain stem. Did you check his ears, are they clean no ear infections? or how about under his tail, is it tight and infected, sometimes a tight tail bone which is inverted and poke him and cause him pain.So if the ears and tail are clean then it's best to go see a neurologist and they can do a neuro exam by testing his reflex, eye movements and go on from there. I wouldn't go to a normal vet, they might not know unless you have a very good vet.

also feel his body from head to toe and tail

try to touch him like his ears, head, neck, down his back, paws, under his feet, his bums, stomach, etc. and see if he tensed up or cry in pain, then you will know that is the location of the pain.

Have you moved anything?

Have you moved any furniture? Or maybe there is a toy missing. One time my boy, Higgins, whined for a few days almost non stop. We finally figured out trhat a ball had gotten behind the TV stand. He knew it was there and wanted it. When we realized he waslooking at the TV, we looked behind it and retrieved his ball. Problem solved. He will also whine if he wants to play or if we move the furniture.

Oh Yes!

They always know when a toy is missing and under something.  Kohl is always whinning for something.

any news?

Just came upon your post and am wondering if you have learned the cause of your bullys problems?  Ours is 6 yrs old also and he has had episodes similar to that before we got him treated for his chronic ear infections and he still has allergies which we are looking into next.  I remember a few of those sleepless nights!!

Hope you boy is better by now!! Tis the time of year for some to have problems with seasonal allergies.
