he doesn't get crazy but he humps my other bully alot we are weaning him off because of the many side effects, he feels tired, no more muscles so he couldn't he climb up the stairs. The neurologist at (UC Davis a resident) I brought him to was very adamant on the prednisone and he was taking 6 pills of 5mg a day and never bother to check on him so I went to see a different neurologist and we are weaning him off the prednisone and starting on cyclosporine. He has been on cyclosporine and his energy level is back, he seems more playful instead of just sitting and staring. He was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease wich causes his brain cells to attacking it's own and cause the swelling so he has to be on meds for the rest of his life. And I'm very happy with this new neurologist/neurosurgeon with 20+ years experience. He monitors his dosage and do bloodworks and most important is that he get back to me if I have any questions thru email or phone right away.
Very common side effect of Pred.
Make sure plenty of water is available. Very normal reaction to Pred.
Amy and Sophia
yep water and lots of drinking/
peeing very normal.
Also you might
see a change in temperment. Some dogs don't do well on Pred and get cranky. Watch for undesirable side effects and consult your vet.
Also
They can become more heat intolerant. Make sure you keep the environment a little cooler than norm.
The good thing is that most of the side effects are dose-related and will resolve as the pred gets weaned.
Olivia
thank you for the response
