Over weight

I know my bully was overweight but I still cant get her to lose any weight. She is two and a half and weighs 80lbs. I had to take her to the vet the other day and he wants her to lose 25 lbs. Really a dog lose 25 pounds I mean really I should lose some weight but 25 lbs is alot for anyone to lose. So I started to feed her this new food its sceince diet light. Iam feeding her like she is a 55lbs dog and thats what the vet wanted me to do. So today was week two and one not one pound lost. She well eat almost anything she like a cow and will eat grass all day long kinda and iam not sure what to do about that.  If anyone has any good idea i would love to hear them. Thanks James

dump the science diet.....

go give it away...what were you feeding before?  go back to that and reduce it by 1/2 cup the first week...add in some green beans....this will make her fill ful   l////   the only treat will be carrots...she will like them if its the only treat around.....for some thing sweet melon dogs love the sweetness of melon.....and you have to be firm...i would feed twice a day at nite 1/2 cup of food with some green beans...

or the best way to go...put her on raw...

I agree, Science diet is crap...

we've found that grainfree salmon based foods are usually pretty low in calories and have much healthier ingredients.  That, along with some green beans, should help.  I buy the huge frozen greenbean bags at Costco.

thx

I guess iam off to the pet store to get new food and then to walmart to get green beans. Thx for the help!!

Thyroid issue?

You might want to discuss a thyroid test with your vet.  If the throid is "off", it can affect metabolism, and it's a rather commom condition in the breed.
