Oscar has little scabs on his body!

My poor Oscar had a pretty bad case of fleas these past few months. I finally got it under control about a month ago. I noticed he has all these little red bumbs, some scabbing,  on his belly, his back legs & his "junk"

Since he is 90% brindle, I can't see if they are anywhere else, but have felt with my hands 2 decent size areas that have all scabbed up around his shoulder area.

Has anyone had this & if so, what did you do?

He will be going to the vet at the end of the month for a physical & shots (see post above re: vaccines) Is it ok if I wait until then to take him or should I bring him in earlier?

Thanks :o)

If he is not 100%

(if it were me) I would postpone all vaccines until he is.  Hope he feels better.

Fleas

I would take him in since you've had a problem with fleas. Other medical problems can result from flea bites and infestation. Some information:

Adult fleas are not only a nuisance to humans and their pets, but can cause medical problems including flea allergy dermatitis (FAD), tapeworms, secondary skin irritations and, in extreme cases, anemia. Although bites are rarely felt, it is the resulting irritation caused by the flea salivary secretions that varies among individuals. Some may witness a severe reaction (general rash or inflammation) resulting in secondary infections caused by scratching the irritated skin area. Others may show no reaction or irritation acquired after repeated bites over several weeks or months. Most bites usually found on the ankles and legs may cause pain lasting a few minutes, hours or days depending on one's sensitivity. The typical reaction to the bite is the formation of a small, hard, red, slightly-raised (swollen) itching spot.

Your pet will become obsessed with cleaning itself, which can lead to hair loss and hot-spots, or allergic dermatitis.  Rashes will make your pet vulnerable to infection and if left untreated can make your pet quite ill.  A sick animal then becomes susceptible to anemia.  Fleas can also transmit tapeworms to your pet.
