Oliver won't eat
Submitted by Alicia Jay Deuc... on February 23, 2011 - 9:18pmOliver is usually CRAZY about food. He eats his dinner in 30 seconds and is always wanting food. This morning he wasn't eating with his usual gusto but he did eat most of his breakfast. Tonight for dinner he didn't even touch his food. It is not a new bag of food nor is it a new flavor or brand of food. He also seems to be acting a tiny bit lethargic but is still playful with Deuce and interactive with us. We thought maybe he chipped a tooth or there is something going on with his mouth so Jay and I poked around and looked all in his mouth and didn't see anything. If a tooth or his mouth was hurting I thought maybe if I put his food through a food processor and then soaked it with some warm water he might eat it...nope. I gave him a piece of carrot, which he usually LOVES and gobbles up, and he spit it out. He is drinking water and pooping and peeing. I am worried, anyone have any thoughts? Suggestions?
hhmmm...lethargic is not usually a good sign...
hopefully he just has gas or something.... but i think if he starts to look uncomfortable then it may be vet time? last time my bully didn't eat (and she eats everything!) , we found out it was pneumonia. last time my german sheperd didnt eat, he couldn't get comfortable either, we found out it was bloat.
if his energy level keeps sinking, then i would start to worry... i guess try to feel his tummy and see if its tender or hard or bloated anywhere? make his next meal extra delicious and if he still won't eat, i would just go to the vet to be sure something is not stuck or twisted up in there. good luck!

He is much better
He got his spunk back last night. I think it was just a flu bug or something. We have been giving him rice and hamburger to be easy on his tummy. His poops have firmed up a bit but they still aren't great. He has his energy back though and wants to eat again....phew!

augh! I don't like it when our babies act weird :/ Glad he is back to spunky monkey!
