oh no, not again!

As if it wasn`t bad enough the cat got MRSI in her ear again recently, and I am constantly checking Mr. Higgins` ears, he has another hematoma again!! Vet drained it on Friday since it wasn`t too big however it is filling up quickly and he most likely will be in surgery on Monday. poor guy, it happened on his 7th birthday. To make matters worse my vet is away for 3 weeks and I do not know the surgeon.

The big problem here is the risk of MRSI getting into him because of opening up the ear flap. Both dog and cat got MRSI last October. Sheesh.

It just seems whenever I think he is for once healthy, something comes up like this. I`ll just die if he gets the MRSI as well.

I am having a pity party right now, sorry about that.

Is he uncomfortable?

We chose not to treat our Bulldog's hemotoma that she got at age 8,even though vet at that time wanted to.  The blood resorbed after time, and we and she don't mind that the ear flap is lumpy to touch and looks a little different than her right ear.  Others don't notice anything at all.   I've heard of people applying warm compresses and some have got prednisone from the vet to treat this when they chose not to have surgery.,  Good luck!

He is on meds

One is rimadyl for pain and the inflammation. He`s been on that many times before. Also clavamox for infection as the ear was drained on Friday. He goes in the morning and I actually hope they do the surgery to end this thing. It is painful to the touch and slowly getting bigger. It is quite firm at this point. If he gets the surgery they will remove his broken tooth at the same time as it is discoloured now. He broke it off chewing on a deer antler.

My only fear here is that I do not know the surgeon at all and have always had the utmost trust in my vet that my bully will make it through the anaesthesia. Yikes!!

No ACE for Mr. Higgins, not my boy.

Wish us luck please. 7 surgeries is a lot of times for a bully to be put under.
