Is this normal??

So, my 2.5 yr old bully has been sleeping more often than usual and "blah" acting for a few weeks now.... I'm wondering if maybe it's the heat (heat index of 100+ here in Louisiana), he only goes out to potty and isnt out there for more than 10min each trip... Or he is just settling into the "laziness" of being a bulldog?!?! He plays inside anytime we get on the floor to throw his toy around, but then 2 min later he's laying back down, ready to sleep again! Am I overthinking it, thinking something is wrong with him?!?? Thanks for any thoughts!

It seemed like my bulldog ALWAYS slept. It is totally normal, and they are sensitive to heat. Many people told me the same thing.... As long as everything else is normal, I think its OK. James became more active when he took his walks, but he generally sleeps/ lounges 18 hours a day, maybe more!

Besides wanting to see more pics of your sweet boy I would also say I think the heat really DOES take its toll on our bully buddys. Last summer Winston acted like how you describe. It really freaked me out a first, but then I put it together that the heat and bulldogs don't mix well and I relaxed.

Still keep an eye on him and if your "6th sense" tells you something more is going on beyond just being tired of the heat I'd take your pup in to be checked out. No one knows our dogs better than we do, so don't ignore any feelings that something more is going.

James is totally nocturnal. I mean, he doesnt really come alive until 7PM and he is ready to party. Morning, (630 AM- 830 AM) he is really active too. We live in Hawaii, so the humididty in LA is simillar to ours. So we just let him lounge, and when he perks up in the evening, we know all is well!

BTW, my dream is to live in New Orleans...my fave place in the Mainland US!
