Hello! Hope all is well at bdw! We are boarding Tuffy at the vet while we vacation in the Berkshires and think this might be a good time to get him neutered (he is 20 months old.)For those of you who have gone through this with your bullies, can you give me any recommendations regarding general anesthesia, what the recovery is like, etc. Our vet is very seasoned and I'm sure that Tuffy will be fine but he's never been under general anesthesia before and I know that is a concern with bulldogs.
Also will I notice a difference in his personality afterward or will he pretty much be the same? I hope he doesn't lose his playfulness...
Thanks!
Tank was out of it for a few
Tank was out of it for a few days. The pain medicine can make them groggy. It's two months later now, and he is just as hyper and playful as ever! The only thing that changed was a slight increase in weight, which is normal.
Beware the cone! Tank had his bent and crinkled in minutes. Some dogs don't lick the stiches and might not need it.
Wouldn't know that he just got a brandnew $60 bed! My forever puppy Tank.
How can they reach to lick?? lol
I can't see it happening! Does it stop the hump craz?
Hank had a good experience.
Hank was groggy for a few days, but recovery was very fast. Did they ask you if you would like to have a laser used for incision instead of a blade? I highly recommend it. It is slightly more expensive but it is not as invasive for the pup and recovery is much easier. Hank never licked his surgery site so he did not need a collar. His playfullnes and activity level did not change at all, and he also still is a humper (although he only humps my husband and I, not strangers).
Thanks...I'll inquire about the Laser
How old was Hank when you got him neutered? Glad his recovery was quick!
